MSS Security’s efforts to develop a diverse workforce that reflects the community we service have been recognised with two awards in the 20th Australian Security Industry Awards for Excellence.
Our People & Culture Team was presented with awards celebrating its gender diversity and Indigenous employment programs during a ceremony at Sydney’s Westin Hotel on October 22.
“As a specialist security personnel provider, people are truly MSS Security’s business. These awards are recognition from our industry that we not only value our people, we foster their careers, and we appreciate the importance of a workforce that reflects both our customers and the wider community,” said MSS Security’s Managing Director, Mike McKinnon.
To draw more women to the security industry, MSS Security has developed a range of initiatives, including offering roles with a customer service component, and an employee referral program that offers extra rewards for female candidates referred.
We have also formed a partnership with Industry Women Central, an organisation working to attract more women to careers in building, construction, property services and other industries that have traditionally been male-dominated.
To attract Indigenous employees, MSS Security has partnered with Indigenous recruitment specialist, Karlka Recruiting Group, which uses culturally appropriate and effective methods for communicating with Indigenous communities.
Once an Indigenous employee has joined MSS Security they are offered mentoring, and our staff undertake cultural awareness training as part of our larger drive to create a supportive and culturally inclusive workplace for everyone.
Organised by the Australian Security Industry Association Limited (ASIAL), in conjunction with the UK-based World Excellence Awards, the Australian Security Industry Awards for Excellence recognise outstanding organisations and security professionals.
The winners were selected by an independent judging panel of experts.
