Partnership with Pilbara Ports Authority grows

Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA) has extended and renewed its contract with MSS Security.

MSS Security has been the incumbent security provider at PPA’s Port Hedland port in the Pilbara region of north-west Western Australia since 2011. Under the new contract, MSS Security is now also responsible for the Port of Dampier.

Proven service delivery and a number of shared achievements at the Port of Port Hedland helped MSS Security secure the expanded contract. These services include:

These achievements are among the reasons why MSS Security has consistently received high scores for its KPIs each quarter for the past 18 months.

MSS Security also supplies PPA with the efficiency and reassurance of a Port Hedland-based contract manager and a large team of accredited and site-inducted security officers – of the 230 FIFO staff MSS Security has servicing the Pilbara region, 120 have qualifications that exceed PPA’s requirements.

The ports of Dampier and Port Hedland are two of the world’s largest bulk export ports, and are responsible for more than 75% of WA’s seaborne iron ore exports.

They have handled significant increases in WA’s exports in recent years and, as a result, PPA is an organisation of regional, state and national economic significance. In 2014/15, PPA achieved a record annual throughput of 620Mt, with more than 25,000 vessel movements across its ports.
