March 12th, 2025
This year, MSS Security teams across the country came together to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) under the theme “Accelerate Action”, reinforcing our commitment to promoting gender equality and inclusivity. From inspiring guest speakers to meaningful discussions and community support, here’s how our teams marked this important day.
The MSS Security Silverwater team hosted an inspiring and interactive session led by Vicki Duits, National System & Service Support Manager, celebrating the women who have paved the way for equality. We were privileged to hear from Alison Douglas, a firefighter and Critical Risk Manager at Safety Direct Solutions, who shared her powerful insights on resilience and leadership. The event was filled with great conversations, delicious food, and a strong sense of empowerment, making it a truly memorable day.
In the midst of preparing for Tropical Cyclone Alfred, our Brisbane Office Team took a moment to celebrate International Women’s Day. This gathering provided an opportunity to reflect on the importance of visibility for women both in and outside of the workplace, aligning with this year’s call to action: “Accelerate Action” in addressing gender disparities.
On 7 March 2025, our MSS ACT team gathered for a special morning tea and engaging discussions around gender equality. Business Manager Raghav Gulati delivered a powerful speech reflecting on the history of IWD, the progress made in gender diversity, and MSS Security’s commitment to inclusivity—especially in office-based and management roles. He also shared personal insights on the inspiring women in his life and led discussions comparing gender diversity in the security industry between India and Australia. The event provided a platform for meaningful conversations on how we can all contribute to advancing gender equality.
MSS Security proudly celebrated IWD at Melbourne Airport, recognising the contributions of the incredible women working in aviation security. Organised by Aviation Services Manager Sam Krikelis, with support from P&C Business Partner Max Kiki, the event highlighted the vital role women play in our industry. At MSS Security, we remain committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace where women are empowered to thrive.
Our VIC office also hosted a small event. They were honoured to have Sarina Persall, Executive General Manager at Crown, share an inspiring speech on how we can all support women in the workplace and thrive. Sarina reflected on her own journey and the leaders who shaped her success. After a fantastic presentation from Trish Sellman – MSS Security General Manager, Victoria and Sarina, the team came together to enjoy some delicious food.
A big thank you to everyone who joined in, making it a memorable celebration. Here’s to empowering women every day!
On 7 March 2025, our WA Branch attended the IWD conference and lunch at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, hosted by AusIMM. We were honoured to be joined by Lindsey Amesbury and Desiree Lloyd-Scott from BHP, along with Melissa Burge from Safety Direct Solutions.
A highlight of the event was the keynote speech by Turia Pitt, a mining engineer, athlete, and motivational speaker who shared her remarkable journey of resilience and triumph. Her story left a lasting impact, reminding us that with perseverance, anything is possible.
In the Northern Territory, MSS Security proudly donated to Dawn House Women’s Shelter in Darwin, supporting their crucial work in assisting women and children facing domestic violence.
Meanwhile, in South Australia, our team gathered to reflect on the significance of IWD, led by Lisa DiFrancesco, who shared insights from our headquarters. The celebration was made even more special with catering from South Terrace Catering, a local women-led business run by Rawa Ghamraoui. True to the spirit of the day, the event featured delicious purple-themed treats, symbolising justice and dignity.
At MSS Security, we take pride in honouring and supporting women within our communities, the security industry, and beyond. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s International Women’s Day celebrations a success. Together, we can #AccelerateAction and create a more inclusive future for all.
