With the COVID-19 Hotel Quarantine Inquiry Final Report and Recommendations now tabled in the Victorian Parliament, MSS Security wishes to highlight that it is extremely proud of the performance of its frontline staff and management in the execution of this critical program.

MSS Security has been a consistent and reliable partner to our clients and a stable and supportive employer throughout 2020, helping to cope with impacts of COVID-19 both on the community and the economy. This proved a demanding and worthwhile task right across Australia.

In relation to the Victorian Hotel Quarantine Program and subsequent Inquiry, MSS Security welcomes the findings of the Inquiry and would like to acknowledge the efforts of the Board of Inquiry, led by the Honourable Jennifer Coate AO, and supported by Counsel Assisting and a committed legal team.

MSS Security took comfort in the knowledge that when our long-term client, the Victorian Government asked us to assist with the Hotel Quarantine Program, we did so with genuine good intent, dedication to our values, and unmatched operational and management expertise.

I am particularly pleased that the Inquiry has determined what we always knew, that in changing and very challenging circumstances, “the overwhelming majority of security guards who worked in the Hotel Quarantine Program did so honestly and with goodwill”.

Similarly, I am most grateful and encouraged by the support shown by our much-valued clients right across the country in terms of the Inquiry and also in their continuing trust in MSS Security as their security provider of choice. This enabled us to retain the vast majority of our valued people in active employment during the pandemic. I am delighted that the findings of the Inquiry have validated our clients’ ongoing support of MSS Security.

Sadly, this outcome does not change the fact that in Australia, COVID-19 has seen hundreds of people lose their lives. Many more have had their lives and futures turned upside down as we have battled and continue to battle this pandemic.

To our nearly 7000 frontline staff right across the country who have gone to work every day to protect our clients, their staff, and their properties through this extremely testing period, you have done so with great professionalism and dedication, and as always have done your very best. Thank you.
