MSS Security indigenous employment success…

MSS Security is proud to confirm its ongoing commitment, support and participation with Indigenous employment and training programs across the country. Earlier this year MSS Security formed relationships with NANA Australia and Karlka Recruiting Group to assist with the recruitment of Indigenous Security Officers to fill various positions across Western Australia.

Karlka Recruiting Group is an Indigenous owned recruitment group that specialises in Indigenous recruitment and aims to build real opportunities for Indigenous Australians. Karlka Recruiting Group engage local communities in order to promote local hire and economic development and to help secure the lives of future generations.

MSS Security was also pleased to be a part of Karlka’s launch, ‘Making a Real Difference’ on the 11th of July 2014 which celebrated Karlka’s launch in Perth, to represent the Nyiyaparli people.

Prior to forming the relationship with Karlka Recruiting Group, there were three Indigenous employees in WA. Since the partnership began in May of this year, it has been extremely successful with MSS Security now employing in excess of 16 indigenous Security Officers, Aviation Protection Officers and Aboriginal Liaison Officers in metropolitan, regional and Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) sites in WA.

There have been five Indigenous trainees who have been sponsored to complete the Certificate II in Security Operations through our MSS Training Academy, with three of these trainees subsequently being employed by MSS Security as Security Officers.

In addition to this, three Indigenous employees have been trained and certified to Security Emergency Officer Level, and seven employees as qualified Drug and Alcohol testers working on FIFO contracts in the Pilbara region. One indigenous employee has also been trained to work as a Revenue Protection Officer on the Perth Rail Network.

Our Western Australian team looks forward to building on the success of the program in 2015 by continuing to provide more employment and training opportunities for Indigenous Australians.

Congratulations and well done to our Western Australian and HR teams for their support and participation.
