Celebrating NAIDOC Week…

From 4 to 11 July, we celebrate NAIDOC Week. This year’s NAIDOC theme is Heal Country!

Heal Country! is a call for more robust actions to recognise, protect, and maintain all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage.

NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’. This committee was once responsible for organising national activities during NAIDOC Week, and its acronym has since become the name of the movement.

NAIDOC Week is held across Australia each July to honour the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities but by Australians from all walks of life.

This week MSS Security is organising a company-wide event. We encourage our employees to write a 25-word blurb and create an Aboriginal-style artwork using technics and symbols associated with the Indigenous culture describing the meaning of Heal Country. The submissions will later be shared with all of MSS Security.

NAIDOC Week Committee also urges local communities to take the opportunity to celebrate the oldest continuing culture in the world. It’s a wonderful occasion to participate in different activities organised at government agencies, local councils, schools and workplaces.

Please join MSS Security in commemorating and honouring NAIDOC Week 2021.
