Celebrating Culture, Community and Sport at the 2026 Indigenous Nationals

MSS Security was proud to support our client, the University of Newcastle, during the 2026 Indigenous Nationals held in Newcastle.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Indigenous Nationals brought together more than 400 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university students from 31 teams across Australia to compete in basketball, netball, volleyball and touch football. The University of Newcastle, which founded the event three decades ago, capped off the celebrations by taking out the overall championship after impressive victories in both the basketball and netball competitions.

During the on-campus Touch Football competition, Connor Diffey (Indigenous Engagement Specialist) and Marty Farrell (NSW Business Manager), alongside our on-site security team, hosted an information booth to engage with students, promote the support our security personnel provide on campus, and help ensure a safe and welcoming environment throughout the event.

The team also shared information about the MSS Security Indigenous Scholarship Program, with many university team managers and students expressing strong interest and taking the opportunity to learn more about the initiative.

The event provided a fantastic opportunity for MSS Security to strengthen relationships with our client and engage with one of the largest annual gatherings of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university students in Australia. We are proud to support initiatives that celebrate culture, encourage education, and foster meaningful connections within the communities we serve.
