MSS Security’s Major Events Team in Victoria has won a major award – Outstanding Security Partnership – in the 3rd annual Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs).

The award celebrates the Major Events team’s ongoing and successful partnership with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) to supply the security needs of the Formula 1™ Rolex Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne each March.

The OSPAs are an international initiative, which makes the team’s achievement all the more special.

“OSPA winners in Australia join a small elite group around the world who have shown outstanding performance. The OSPAs are now offered in eight countries,” said Professor Martin Gill, Managing Director of the OSPAs.

Since the partnership began in 1996, MSS Security and the AGPC have continuously achieved their common goal – an incident-free event – using clear communication, and effective planning and logistical coordination, underpinned by suitably skilled and qualified staff who are truly passionate about what they do.

For the Major Events team, the Formula 1™ Rolex Australian Grand Prix is more than the four days of racing around Albert Park Lake; across 98 days each year, the AGPC partnership delivers:

• 800 event security and hospitality staff
• more than 40,000 rostered hours
• protection of up to 300,000 patrons across the four days of competition
• management and coordination of all aspects of event security, crowd control, traffic management and parking

The Major Events team understands that effective security planning underpinned by the right people plays an important role in ensuring the success of any event,” said Jamie Adams, General Manager VIC/TAS.

“The award is recognition of the team’s dedication and commitment, assisted by the Victorian Operations team, to delivering a complex security and event solution for such high-profile events.”

The OSPA winners were announced during the Australian Security Awards 2017 gala dinner at Melbourne’s Crown Casino in October.
