Over the last 2 years MSS Security had the privilege of providing security services for the Royal Commission into Veterans Suicide, spanning from May 2022 to its conclusion on 28 May 2024.
The Royal Commission delved into the concerning issue of veteran suicide rates in Australia. Our services were extended across multiple locations, including Canberra, Darwin, Tasmania, Townsville, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, and Wagga Wagga.
Our team meticulously screened all attendees, ensuring security checks and identity verification for veterans, families, and commission staff. Stringent measures were enforced to prevent unauthorised entry, maintaining the confidentiality of proceedings. Our security officers underwent specialised training to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism, fostering a supportive environment. We were poised to provide security for public hearings, prioritising the safety and integrity of the process.
Our diligent efforts yielded a secure environment, allowing for respectful discourse without incidents of unauthorised access or privacy breaches. The commendation received from veterans, families, and commission staff underscores the effectiveness of our services.
Scott Boyd, Assistant Director – Security Manager at the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide, praised the MSS Security team for their exceptional service during hearings amid COVID-19 challenges. He commended several Security Officers including Imran Qureshi, Michelle Andrikis, and David Aumann for their professionalism and support. Boyd highlighted the team’s adaptability, excellent customer service, and effective document handling. He specifically recognised the Hobart team’s contributions, including Tamara Jokovic Ratkovic and Dimitri Yiannenakis. Boyd noted, “The continued feedback from the DVSRC team that were at both hearings has been nothing but favourable.”
We extend our heartfelt gratitude for entrusting us with the security of this critical commission. Our unwavering commitment to excellence and dedication to maintaining safety and confidentiality remain at the forefront of our mission.
