The MSS Security Scholarship Program is a training-to-employment pathway for people looking to start or build a career in security.

MSS provides the training, qualifications and support you need to prepare for employment with us. Whether you are starting a new career, changing careers, transitioning from Defence or another profession, or looking to build new skills, the scholarship program could be your next step.

What does the Scholarship include?

Depending on the pathway and role, your scholarship may include:

  • CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations – the primary pathway for security officer roles.
  • AVI20325 Certificate II in Transport Security Protection – a pathway for selected airport and transport security opportunities.
  • First Aid 
  • Support to obtain the relevant licence, accreditation, and screening requirements for your role.
  • Role-specific training required for particular sites or clients.
  • A pathway to employment with MSS following successful completion of the required training and requirements.

MSS will determine the most appropriate pathway based on business needs, available opportunities, location and role requirements.

From Training to Employment

Successful scholarship participants who complete the required training and meet the relevant role and licensing requirements will have a pathway to employment with MSS.

Depending on the role, additional requirements such as government security clearances or client-specific screening may need to be completed before employment can commence. These requirements will be discussed with you during the application process.

Once you commence employment with MSS, you will be required to complete a minimum 12-month return of service, providing an opportunity to develop your skills and build your career with MSS.

Who can apply?

You must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older. 
  • Have valid working rights in Australia.
  • Be able to meet the requirements for the relevant licence, accreditation and screening requirements.
  • Be committed to completing the required training and pursuing a career with MSS.

Some roles have additional requirements. For example, government security roles may require Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain the relevant government clearance.

General Scholarship Pathway

Open to applicants from all other backgrounds interested in starting a career with MSS.

Both pathways are assessed through the same MSS scholarship assessment process. Scholarship opportunities are offered based on MSS business and workforce requirements and may vary by location and role.
