The Day Of Remembrance

At 11am on 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent, signalling the end of the First World War, after four long years of continuous warfare.

Each year since 1919, at this time, on this day, a minute of silence is observed to remember those soldiers who gave their lives in conflict.  Since that time, this significant day has become known as Remembrance Day and is an opportunity to commemorate those who died or suffered for Australia’s cause in all wars and armed conflicts. We are proud to honour both men and women of the Australian Defence Force who made the ultimate sacrifice. We will remember them. Lest we forget.
