#NRW2020 #InThisTogether2020

It’s National Reconciliation Week and throughout this important week, MSS will reinforce the role we each play in helping to build relationships that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, histories, and cultures.

The artwork for this year’s logo is entitled “Reconciliation, a continuing journey of growth and togetherness”, and represents our nation’s journey both past and present. This week, MSS will proudly showcase its own journey, highlighting significant relationships with employees, partners and stakeholders, and demonstrate our contribution as an organisation to positively shape a future that supports the true spirit of reconciliation across the country.

Additionally, we will share some great events that you can get involved in so we can be #InThisTogether2020!

As we reflect on our reconciliation journey and contribution, we are proud to share the following achievements:

• As part our Indigenous Employment Program, we have employed 310 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees since December 2015.
• We have positively impacted the communities of those 310 employees.
• 29% of hired employees were female.
• 78% of employees remained in employment for more than 6 months.
• Supporting indigenous business through our procurement programs with a spend of $500k in 12 months.
• Drafted our REFLECT RAP
• The establishment of Habitat Security in 2016, a joint venture which assists Indigenous communities and the Commonwealth Government to achieve their objectives in accordance with the Indigenous Procurement Policy.

NRW Launch: National Acknowledgement of Country

To launch NRW 2020, Reconciliation Australia are asking everyone to take to social media to acknowledge Country. We can’t be physically together to show respect, but we can show respect to Country where we are.

 

WHAT DO I SAY?

This suggested wording will help you express your Acknowledgement of Country.

“I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Land on which I stand.  I acknowledge the (people) of the (nation) and pay my respects to Elders past and present.”

 

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people may also wish to acknowledge their own mob/s.

Doing it virtually?
Here are some ideas for how to Acknowledge the Land you are on and join in via social media.

At home

• Record your Acknowledgement of Country via a video.
• Take a photo of you, friends, or family with the name of the Traditional Owners, or a sign of Acknowledgement.
• Make chalk art or signs on your driveway and upload photos or video

At work

• Record a video message at your workplace, or a photo acknowledgement.
• Ask and encourage your colleagues to take part to create a collage or compilation.

Watch the Panel Discussion about the 2000 bridge walks for reconciliation Facebook live on Reconciliation Australia Facebook page and ABC Facebook pages.

When: Thursday 28th May 2020 12pm – 1pm
Where: Facebook Livestream on Reconciliation Australia or ABC Australia Facebook pages. The panel will be broadcast on Speaking Out, which can be heard on Radio National (Fridays at 8pm), ABC Local Radio (Sundays at 9pm) and the ABC listen app.

In This Together: Adam Goodes and Fujitsu in conversation for Reconciliation Week.

Join Fujitsu and Innovatus Digital and special guest Adam Goodes, Director and CEO of the IDIC, and former Australian of the Year, for a special online event. The session will provide some first-hand insights from Adam as he shares his perspective on Indigenous inclusion in the supply chain, and some tips on business partnership, ambition, and leadership lessons learnt from his varied career.
