Walking for a great cause…

MSS Security is always proud of its staff, especially when employees support charities and donate their time and money to a good cause.

One of the employees on our radar these days is Mark Lowe.

Mark is the site manager at ISPT Casselden and is no stranger to setting goals and facing challenges.

This year he is fundraising for the Black Dog Institute by hiking alone, the Great Ocean Walk from Apollo Bay to the iconic Twelve Apostles.

Mark said his aim was to walk the 110 km from Apollo Bay to the Twelve Apostles along Victoria’s rugged west coast.

“[I will be] carrying everything I need and doing it solo to support suicide awareness and those suffering from depression, anxiety, and PTSD, to show that they are not alone and isolated. There is always someone who is willing to listen,” he said.

The Black Dog Institute has a vision of a mentally healthier world. They aim to significantly reduce the incidence of mental illness and suicide, remove the stigma, and empower all people to live the most mentally healthy life possible.

Mark has been in the security industry for 30+ years and has covered a wide variety of sites and operations during that time. From the 2008 Commonwealth Games to the visit of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Port of Melbourne, and numerous other security roles.

He has previously competed in fundraising events such as the Murray Marathon kayak event three times and numerous Oxfam and Breast Cancer Network walk.

If you would like to donate to this worthwhile cause and support Mark, please feel free to use Mark’s link below or directly through the MSS Security Workplace Giving Program.
